As mentioned in my last post, NaNoWriMo has been sucking the life and soul from my body.
To stay motivated for NaNo, I decided to make Thanksgiving weekend a mini "writing retreat" at home. I didn't dedicate all of my free time to writing—but pretty close to it. Had a nice pumpkin candle burning, armed myself with Coke Zeros, and did buckets of writing sprints with other members of The Bleeding Typewriter on Discord.
It worked well! It was exhilarating to find that yes, I can write 1,000 words a day. I can write over 3,000 words a day. I would like to harness that energy for short stories. We'll see.
But as I'm still in the midst of NaNo—just a few more days, and a couple thousand words left!—this is, again, a short update without much purpose.
(If you need a takeaway, take this: You can have your own writing retreat at home, if you can get into the right headspace.)
Go forth and write!
